The Blessed Way of Jesus - Part 3 (Matthew 5:7-8)

Sermon Series: The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7)

Sermon Title: The Blessed Way of Jesus (Part 3 of 4)

Sermon Text: Matthew 5:7-8

Big Idea: The blessed way of Jesus compassionately loves others.

#5 Compassionate love for others is merciful toward those in need (v7)

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” (Matthew 5:7)

  • Where have you failed to show mercy? Who have you withheld from because you felt they were undeserving? Why is that?

  • Where do you need to extend yourself mercy? What lie are you believing about yourself that is not true of you in Christ?

#6 Compassionate love for others comes from pure motives (v8)

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8)

  • How are you living for God’s love, rather than from God’s love? How re you living for God’s approval rather than from God’s approval?

  • How are you serving to be seen - either by others or by God?
