Sermon Title: Renewing Our Expectations

Sermon Text: Haggai 2:1-9

God confronts His people’s unmet expectations (v1-3)

The Feast of Booths served as a reminder of God’s continued faithfulness to:

  • Fulfill His promises to His people

  • Provide for His people

  • Be present among His people

Our past experiences shape our present expectations

God calls His people to renew their expectations (v4-9)

Allow God’s presence to renew our expectations of today (v4-5)

  • Be strong…for I am with you (v4)

  • Work…for I am with you (v4)

  • My Spirit remains in your midst…fear not (v5)

Allow God’s promises to renew our expectations of tomorrow (v6-9)

WHAT WILL YOU RENEW?

Renew your expectations

  1. What are your expectations of God, of one another, and for your life?

  2. How have your past experiences shaped those expectations?

  3. How will you renew your expectations in light of God’s presence with you and promises made to you?
