Sermon Series: Choosing Contentment

Sermon Title: Choosing Contentment With What I Have

Sermon Text: 1 Timothy 6:6-10

God confronts His people’s spiritual drift (v10-14)

Pursuing God leads to contentment (v6-8)

5 aspects of contentment we gain when we pursue God:

  1. We gain a greater DEPENDANCE on God

  2. We gain a greater sense of GRATITUDE towards God

  3. We gain a greater sense of STEWARDSHIP with all God has entrusted to us

  4. We gain a greater sense of SATISFACTION with what God has given us

  5. We gain a greater sense of FREEDOM

Desiring more leads to destruction (v9-10)

Progression of desire that leads to deception and ultimately destruction

Reflecting on Contentment

  1. What do I desire more of?

  2. How much more is enough?

  3. What would I do with more that I cannot do today?

  4. What does that reveal about my source of contentment?
