Who We Are

Our Mission

is all about Jesus

Helping people know Jesus and grow to be like Jesus

because our mission comes from Jesus: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

Our Method

is all about Jesus

Pointing people to Jesus by loving them like Jesus

this is how we help people know Jesus, fulfilling the Great Commission by living out the Great Commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” - Matthew 22:37–39

Faithfully following the way of Jesus in obedience to the words of Jesus

this is how we grow to be like Jesus, who declared: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” - John 14:6

Our Model

We want to make disciples of Jesus that are growing stronger relationally both with Jesus and each other. We all want to belong, to make friends and build relationships, and to live life together with others. God has given us a place to do that: the church. Nobody should ever have to walk through the trials of life alone. At Redemption, we walk together.

Together, we want to make Redemption:

We want to make disciples of Jesus who are growing deeper spiritually. Our desire is not just to know more about Jesus, but to truly know Jesus and grow to be more like Jesus. We grow through worship and prayer, and we grow through the reading and preaching of God’s Word. We don’t grow alone in isolation, but together, as a family.

We want to make disciples of Jesus that are growing increasingly generous. We seek to live generous lives because we serve a generous God. We are called to be generous with our time, our talents, and our treasures, the finances God has entrusted us to steward. Together we serve our families, our church, each other, our neighbors, and the world.

The Measure of Maturity
(2024)

If love is the command, Jesus saying to his disciples, “a new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just as I have loved you” - then love should be the measure of maturity, Jesus saying, “by this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

A great way to get a feel for who we are as a church by listening to a sermon from one of the following recent series.

Distinctives
(2023)

We spent this series looking at eight distinctive character traits of us both individually, as followers of Christ, and collectively, as the body of Christ, the Church - as well as our unique expression of each distinctive.

Spiritual Rhythms of the Psalms

In this series we opened the psalms to see six different spiritual practices that guide us in our regular participation in the deepening of our awareness of God and affection for God.

Following Jesus
(2022)

Following Jesus is a lifelong journey that we have been invited to by Jesus himself, a journey that forms us more and more into his image as we follow his way, in obedience to his words.

What We Believe

We affirm the historic Nicene Creed as our primary statement of faith. All orthodox streams of Christianity affirm this creed, which dates back to the 4th century. It is more than an intellectual checklist of doctrines. It is a confession of worship that forms us as the people of God and draws us together into the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made human. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried. The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will never end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life. He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. He spoke through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and to life in the world to come. Amen.

The Essentials

These are the essential beliefs bound up in the Bible that mark one as "Christian." In addition, there are many "non-essential" issues that still matter very much, but Christians may "agree to disagree" over, provided they do so with love, generosity, and respect.
