Advent At Home - Christmas Day

Light the middle, Christ candle, with the four outer candles already lit

Read Galatians 4:4-8

"But when the right time came, God sent his son
born of a woman, subject to the law.
God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law,
so that he could adopt us as his very own children.
And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”
Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child.
And since you are his child, God has made you his heir."

Reflect In the midst of opening presents, being with family, and eating food

it can be easy to forget why we are celebrating.

However, over 2000 years ago, God came to us born of a woman,

so that we could know him and become his children.

Just as God came to us before, we have faith that he will come again

to end wars, to unite all people,

to raise the dead to eternal life here on a restored earth,

and to make right all that is broken.

Take a moment to share what most excites you about Jesus’ return.

Pray Jesus, you are worthy of our worship and praise.

You are greater than we could ever imagine or expect.

Thank you for coming. Thank you that you will come again.

Help us today to not forget your goodness, faithfulness, and future return.

Help us to share your light, by loving and being generous to those around us.

Amen.
