“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?”
That is the question that James, the half brother of Jesus, poses the early church. Professing what they did not practice, their behaviors did not align with their beliefs. They knew the right answers, but failed to follow that up with the right actions.
We find ourselves in a similar situation some 2,000 years later, and are faced with the very same question, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, to you or those around you, if you say you believe in Jesus but fail to live like Jesus by loving like Jesus?”
This year we are focused on growing in being a more loving and welcoming church by putting into practice the Great Commandment of loving God and loving others. This spring we are going to turn to the book of James to help us do that, as together we seek to grow to be more like Jesus as we live like Jesus by loving like Jesus.
Invite a friend, bring your family, and join us as we begin our new series in the book of James called “Faith at Work”.
