Read the Passage: Jonah

Read the book of Jonah.  For fun, have your parents help you give a 4 word title for each chapter.

Discuss the Questions:

  1. Where did God want Jonah to go?  (Nineveh)

  2. What did the Lord want Jonah to do?  (Tell the city of Nineveh to repent)

  3. What did Jonah do?  (He ran away in a boat)

  4. What did the Lord do when Jonah ran away?  (He sent a storm)

  5. What did Jonah tell the sailors to do?  (Throw him overboard because the Lord was punishing him)

  6. The storm stopped when they threw Jonah over.  How did the Lord save Jonah from drowning?  (He sent a big fish to swallow Jonah)

  7. What did Jonah do in the belly of the fish?  (He prayed)

  8. What did the Lord do to answer Jonah’s prayer?  (The fish vomited Jonah out on the shore)

  9. What happened when Jonah finally went to Nineveh and preached God’s message?  (The king and the entire city repented and followed the Lord)

  10. Why did Jonah get sad in chapter 4?  (Because Jonah hated the people of Nineveh and he knew that the Lord would forgive them if they repented)

  11. If you titled the 4 chapters, see if you can change the first word in each title to make and acrostic using the word “FISH.”
