Sunday Story Time

Each Sunday we have a story time, discussion time, worship time, and close by recapping the lesson.

Story Time

Start by reading this week’s lesson to your children, or by having them read it to you. Then watch this week’s lesson video.

Read the Passage: Genesis 6-9 (ESV)

If you’re looking for the story in one of the many incredible children’s Bibles, check these out:

Watch the Video: Check out this morning’s lesson from Pastor Robin as he shares about Noah’s Ark!

Discussion Time

After watching the video, ask the following questions to further teach and apply today’s lesson.

Minis/Littles Discussion Questions

1. How did God feel about people doing mean things and thinking bad thoughts? (He was very sad)

2. What did God tell Noah to build? (an ark—a really big boat)

3. Who closed the door to the ark? (God)

4. Who all stayed on the ark during the flood? (Noah, his family, and every kind of animal)

5. What did Noah do to thank God for rescuing them? (gave an offering)

6. Who is God? (God is our Creator and King)

Bigs/Elementary Discussion Questions

Ask the following questions, leading discussion as suggested:

1. Why did God flood the earth? (Sin had spread and everyone was completely evil, Gen. 6:5-7)

2. Whom did God choose to save? (Noah, his family, and all kinds of animals; Gen. 6:18-19)

3. What did God do to remind Noah of His promise to never flood the earth again? (placed a rainbow in the sky, Gen. 9:12-13)

4. Why is it good for God to punish sin? (Guide kids to understand that God is holy and perfect. If God did not punish sin, it would mean that He doesn’t want what is best for us. God punishes sin because sin dishonors Him, and He created the world to glorify Him)

5. The flood did not end sin forever. What has been God’s plan to end sin all along? (Guide kids to discuss the truth that Jesus’ death, resurrection, and promised return are all part of God’s ultimate plan to deal with sin. Remind them that the story of Noah points us to Jesus, as God chose to save people although He did not have to)

6. Why does God save people when He does not have to? (Guide kids to discuss the truth that God is just and will not let sin go unpunished, but He is also merciful and gracious. He loves people even though they do not deserve it. Help the kids in your group understand that God saves because He is love)
