Love Like Jesus

Last Sunday was unlike any other Sunday. And yet at same we are still the church - and so we still gathered together at the same time, but from different locations - we still prayed and opened God’s Word, but we did it online. Rather than starting our new series, Journey to Jerusalem, we took this Sunday to talk about how we can best love one another by looking at an incredible passage on love from 1 John 3 :11-18. Below you will find the entire service that we live streamed including a time of Q&A at the end. To help you navigate the video, I wanted to provide a basic outline of the service and sermon in the event you wanted to jump to a specific portion.

What Love Is

  • Your love for others is ENABLED by Christ’s love for you (53:30)

  • Your love for others is EVIDENCE of Christ’s love for you (1:05:30)

How to Love

  • Love like Jesus by RECEIVING the love of Jesus (1:09:40)

  • Love like Jesus by PRAYING in the name of Jesus (1:10:20)

    • Pray FOR one another - don’t just say you’ll pray, call and pray! Make 1 phone call to someone in the church every day asking how they are doing and how you can pray for them - and then pray for them!

    • Pray WITH one another - we are going to begin 21 days of prayer every morning at 7:00AM using Zoom, an online video conferencing system. You can learn more here on our blog.

  • Love like Jesus by SERVING with the heart of Jesus (1:18:40)

    • Serve humanity by washing your hands and not taking all the toilet paper

    • Serve retail and grocery store workers by giving a smile, saying hi, and thanking them for their hard work and long hours

    • Serve the medical community by staying home and avoiding the risks that might make you a patient and overwhelm the system

    • Serve the teachers and professors by extending grace as they transition to the new normal - and send a note of encouragement to your children’s teachers

    • Serve each other by checking in on each other - with at least one person every day
