How did Philip help the Ethiopian man?
Why did Jesus become human? Jesus became human to rescue sinners.
Elementary Discussion Questions
Why is Jesus’ death good news?
Remind kids that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to take the punishment our sin deserves. Discuss how Jesus’ death is good news because it means we now can have forgiveness of our sin completely and forever. Invite kids to share this good news with others.
How can we follow God and listen to the Holy Spirit like Philip?
Explain that we follow God by reading the Bible and coming to church to learn more about God’s Word. Discuss how the Holy Spirit lives within believers when they trust in Jesus to help them know God’s Word and obey it. Remind kids that when we pray, we can also follow God and His Spirit as He speaks to us.
Who can you go to when you need help understanding God’s Word?
Remind kids that you are available to answer questions they may have or to explain something in the Bible they don’t understand. Discuss how other godly adults can help answer questions as well such as the kids ministry leader, parents, and other church leaders. Remind kids that they can also submit a question to Pastor Kevin at Questions from Kids.

Big Picture Question: Why did Jesus become human? Jesus became human to rescue sinners.
Big Idea: The Holy Spirit led Philip to help the man understand the good news about Jesus: Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and He is alive.

Practice Catechism
Question 28: What happens after death to those not united to Christ by faith?
Answer: They will be cast out from the presence of God, into hell, to be justly punished, forever.
Question 29: How can we be saved?
Answer: Only by faith in Jesus Christ and in his substitutionary atoning death on the cross.
