My work days this summer have been a mix of projects, grad courses, department meetings, trip planning, and volunteering outside Unto. Things keep changing, and despite our best efforts, many plans continue to be put on hold. Cru's timeline for resuming international travel is still January 2021. Lord willing if we are able to go, I'll be leading a team to the Middle East in the Spring! It's exciting to think about resuming trips, but I also want to be careful to hold everything with open hands. Would you pray that doors would be opened for our team to resume ministry overseas!

CAMPUS: While we wait for travel to open up, I've had the chance to work with several other Unto departments. Most recently I stepped away from working with our marketing team to join arms with the campus branch of Unto. The campus team would like to use my help in recruiting college students from Christian schools. The team leader is really excited as she thinks the experience I have from a Christian undergrad will be invaluable to this role. I'm excited to partner with this team because that means I get to work with students again!

COURSEWORK: Over the spring and summer I was able to take two courses through Cru's Institute of Biblical Studies and complete some of my staff training requirements. To continue chipping away at those course requirements, I'm starting another class this month, OT survey. I'm really looking forward to this course! I took an OT survey class in my undergrad but did not retain as much as I'd like. I've also found I enjoy school a lot more now that I've graduated! I find myself much more interested in retaining what I learn and less focused on my grades. Bummer I didn't have this perspective when I was actually paying for school haha.

CLINIC: Outside of the different responsibilities I have at Unto, I recently began volunteering with a local Christian run Urgent Care. The clinic provides healthcare to those in need for NO cost! The clinic is able to offer this by maintaining a small team of paid staff and a large team of over 200 volunteers. The clinic is strategically placed in a part of Dallas that has a lot of refugees and immigrants. Many of the people who walk through their doors don't have jobs that provide healthcare and the ER is too expensive. We not only get to care for patients' physical needs, but there is a trained team of staff on sight to care for the spiritual needs of every patient seen as well. I've only volunteered one day so far, but I'm excited to continue serving with the clinic and see what doors it opens! Check out their website here.

Although at times I miss working at the office, one perk of working remote is that I can work from anywhere! I spent most of August in the Northeast with my family. Below are some pics of my family and my cute little nieces and nephew. Look how big baby Shepard has gotten!
