Jack & Sharon Mitchell Prayer Update (Dec. 2019)
Jack & Sharon Mitchell (December 2019)
Training Latin American workers for the harvest
“that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.” (Psalm 67:2)
From Everywhere to Anywhere
Our students represent 16 countries coming “from everywhere to go anywhere” God leads them. There is a growing interest in cross-cultural missions. Every Friday early before classes, students meet for prayer for missions. Every other Friday evening they have a missionary club with a large percentage of students attending. Next summer groups from the Seminario Biblico Rio Grande will be doing missions trips to the Middle East, Europe, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Latin America. Pray to the Lord of the harvest to raise up long-term workers for His glory!
Training and Mentoring
Thank you for your constant prayers and faithful giving. God has opened many opportunities to make a difference for eternity since arriving to the Rio Grande Valley in July. By His grace, first semester classes (all in Spanish) went very well. Besides academic growth and development, we have seen spiritual transformation in several students. Sharon attended my classes, interacting with and building relationships with the students. She has been used powerfully by God to lovingly mentor, counsel, and encourage many of the women students. Many students come from very difficult backgrounds and circumstances. Please pray for God’s transforming power and direction in the lives of students we are mentoring: Jampier (Honduras), Rafael (Mexico), Pedro & Gabriella(Mexico), Raquel (Bolivia), Debora (Chile), Monserrat (Mexico), Andrea (Peru). We have also had opportunities to preach in local churches in the area and share in other meetings and classes. One church is literally on the Texas/Mexico border, the Rio Grande River within yards of the front door.
Encouraging Visits
Our daughter, Brittany and three grandkids, came to visit in October, as well as a work team of five adults from her church (a supporting church). Our son, Daniel, also came for a visit. He recently finished two years of missionary work in London, England, and has been invited to join two different missionary teams, one in London and one in Japan. Please pray as he makes decisions about his next step. It’s a joy being together!
Merry Christmas! Grateful for Christ’s coming, looking forward to His return,
Jack & Sharon
