Elementary Discussion Questions
How do you think Jesus felt when He was falsely accused, arrested, and sentenced to die when He had done nothing wrong?
Encourage kids to consider Jesus’ feelings and that He is fully human and experienced real emotions. Remind them that at times Jesus was silent and then other times He gave brief responses. Acknowledge that Jesus knew what was going happen to Him.
Did Jesus not have control of His trial or when the crowd chose to crucify Him? Why?
Discuss how Jesus was always in control and that everything that happened was part of God’s plan. Remind kids that Jesus could have proven His innocence at any time but chose to stay silent and allow wicked men to falsely accuse Him. Explain that Jesus is the King who rules and who saves through His sacrificial death.
Jesus told Caiaphas that in the future He would be seated at the right of God. Why would Jesus be at God’s right hand?
Help kids understand that Jesus’ death would not be the end. Remind kids that Jesus died for our sin and rose again. Explain that Jesus’ death and resurrection defeated sin and death. Tell kids that Jesus’ work is done and that anyone who trusts in Him will live with Him forever.
