Ask the Questions

Bigs Discussion Questions

  1. What was your favorite part of today’s Bible story?

  2. What did you learn about God in today’s Bible story?

  3. When did Jesus rise from the dead?

  4. How is Jesus the perfect King? Jesus perfectly rules over everything.

Elementary Discussion Questions

  1. Why was Mary crying when she went to the tomb?

Discuss how Mary was sad because she thought someone had taken Jesus away. Point out that she didn’t understand that Jesus was raised from the dead. Encourage kids to remember that her crying turned to joy when she saw Jesus is alive.

  2. Is death the end for those who trust in Jesus? Why not?

Remind kids that because Jesus was raised from the dead, death has been defeated. Discuss how the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is given to those who trust in Him. Prompt kids to think about Jesus’ words to Martha in John 11: “Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die” (John 11:26).

  3. Mary went and told the disciples that Jesus is alive. Who do you know that needs to hear the good news of Jesus’ resurrection?

Answers will vary. Remind kids that everyone needs to hear the good news of Jesus’ resurrection. Discuss how sin leads to death. Remind kids that those who do not trust in Jesus will die in their sin and be separated from God forever. Encourage kids to remind others that trusting in Jesus saves us from our sin and gives us eternal life.

Big Idea: Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but He didn’t stay dead. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raised Jesus from the dead on the third day to reign as King over all creation.
