Ask the Questions

Bigs Discussion Questions

  1. What was your favorite part of today’s Bible story?

  2. What did you learn about God in today’s Bible story?

  3. Who wrote a letter to the believers at the church in Rome?

  4. How should we feel when we sin? When we sin, we should feel sorry that we have disobeyed God and choose to obey Him.

Elementary Discussion Questions

  1. Why did God give people His law?

Discuss how God’s law is good and right. Teach kids that God’s law helps us know how to love God and love others, but we can never follow it perfectly enough to please God. Help kids understand that when we realize that we can’t obey the law perfectly, we are able to recognize our sin. Remind kids that only Jesus was able to live a perfect life and follow all of God’s laws. Lead kids to understand that the law helps us realize that we need a Savior—Jesus.

  2. How are people changed when they believe in Jesus?

Help kids understand that when we repent of our sin and believe in Jesus, He gives us the Spirit of life. Remind kids that Jesus changes our hearts and minds. Discuss how the Spirit convicts us of sin, helps us to repent, and gives us the power to turn away from sin.

  3. Can we live however we want after we ask God to forgive our sin? Why not?

Help kids understand that God’s grace does not mean we can keep sinning. Teach kids that God’s grace should change our hearts to want to live in a way that pleases Him. Explain how the Spirit helps us remember God’s words and live by faith in Jesus. Remind kids that when we let the Spirit lead us, we prove to be children of God.
