Elementary Discussion Questions
Why is heavenly treasure better than earthly treasure?
Tell kids that earthly treasures will not last but heavenly treasures are eternal. Help kids understand that we store up treasures in heaven through faith in Jesus. Teach kids that Jesus is the true treasure of heaven and that through Jesus, we will experience other treasures such as no more sin, eternal joy, and a new earth.
Do we need to do good works to make God like us more? Why not?
Remind kids that we do not need to do anything to earn God’s love. Emphasize that He already loves us. Remind kids that because of God’s great love for us, He sent His Son to rescue us from sin. Tell kids that when we become a follower of Jesus, our desire should be to live to honor and glorify God and point others to Him.
What should we do when we feel worried?
Remind kids we can pray and confess our worry to God. Tell kids that reminding ourselves of the truths found in God’s Word is a great way to fight worry. Explain that we can also look at how God cares for this whole world, from the smallest ant to keeping the sun in its place, and be reminded that He loves us even more and promises to take care of us.
