What did Jesus teach when He was on earth? Jesus taught about God and His kingdom.
Elementary Discussion Questions
Why should we obey Jesus’ teachings?
Help kids understand that we obey Jesus out of love for Him. Remind kids that because Jesus lived a perfect life for us, we don’t have to try to earn God’s favor or His love. Tell kids that He proved His love through Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. Encourage kids that when we obey God out of love for Him we bring Him glory and we find joy.
How can you shine bright for Jesus?
Answers will vary. Discuss how there are many ways we can live to shine for Jesus and bring glory to God. Remind kids of Jesus’ teachings and how He taught that we glorify God when we seek His kingdom, show mercy, act humbly, and love our enemies.
Why should we love our enemies or those who are mean to us?
Tell kids that it is easy to love those who love us or are kind to us, but it is hard to love our enemies. Help kids understand that when we love those who have hurt us or wronged us, we are showing others what Jesus is like. Remind kids that Jesus loved His enemies and died for them. Remind kids that before trusting in Jesus, we are all His enemies. Help kids understand that when we trust in Jesus, He gives us the power to love our enemies.

Big Idea: God the Father sent His Son to rescue us from sin. He gives us the Holy Spirit to help us as we live for Him.
