Elementary Discussion Questions
Did Peter and John heal in their own power? Whose name did they heal in?
Remind kids that Peter and John had no power on their own to heal the man who was lame. Discuss how Peter said, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” Tell kids that Peter was showing others that Jesus alone has the power to heal and to save. Remind kids that Jesus gave His disciples power to perform miracles.
What did the man do when he was healed?
Share how the man praised God. Discuss how this response showed how the man understood that his healing had not come from Peter or John but from God. Encourage kids to remember that God is worthy of all praise. Remind kids that God has done great and wonderful things for us through Jesus and the everyday gifts He provides.
How can you help people and share the gospel at the same time?
Answers will vary. Discuss how God cares about people’s needs and uses his church to help others. Share how we can help others by finding ways to meet their needs and that our actions show the love of Jesus. Encourage kids to remember that we also need to use our words to tell people about Jesus. Remind them of Romans 10:14 and how people need to have someone tell them about Jesus so they can hear the gospel and believe in Jesus.
