Elementary Discussion Questions
Jesus cared for the crowd. How does Jesus care for you?
Answers will vary. Remind kids that Jesus saw that the people were hungry and He had compassion on them. Discuss how Jesus cares about our hearts and our physical needs. Remind kids that Jesus cared for us so much that He died for our sins.
Do we ever need to worry that God will not care for us? Why not?
Help kids understand that God has shown how much He cares for us by sending Jesus to rescue us from sin. Tell kids that if God has met our greatest need—being saved from sin— then we can trust Him to meet any other need we may have. Discuss how we may go through hard times, but God will be faithful to help us. Encourage kids to trust in God and remember the love He has shown us through Jesus.
Did Jesus need to go to a store to buy food for the crowd? Why not?
Discuss how Jesus, as God, has all power. Remind kids that Jesus is in charge of all creation. Lead kids to discuss how Jesus took the seven loaves of bread and few fish and miraculously multiplied them to feed over four thousand people until they were full. Remind kids that Jesus’ power is so great, there were even seven baskets full of leftover food. Tell kids that just as Jesus had power to feed the crowd, He also has power to rescue us from our sin.
