Bigs Discussion Questions
What was your favorite part of today’s Bible story?
What did you learn about God in today’s Bible story?
Why couldn’t the religious leaders trick Jesus?
How is Jesus the perfect Prophet? God speaks to us through Jesus.
Elementary Discussion Questions
Is it wrong to ask God questions? What was wrong with why the religious leaders asked Jesus questions?
Help kids understand that it is not wrong to ask God questions. Remind kids that God knows everything and it is wise to come to Him with our questions and depend on His knowledge. Tell kids that it wasn’t the questions that the religious leaders asked that were wrong, but it was why they were asking the questions. Explain that they wanted to trick Jesus and make Him look bad.
Jesus asked the religious leaders a question about David. Were they able to answer His question? Why not?
Discuss how Jesus’ question was not meant to stump the religious leaders but was meant to help them see that Jesus is the Messiah God promised. Remind kids that the religious leaders failed to answer Jesus’ question because they did not believe He is the Messiah.
Can we ever trick God or hide our sin? Why not?
Remind kids that God knows all that is in our hearts and minds. Help kids understand that we cannot hide our sin from the Lord. Encourage kids to remember that God knows our sin and sent His Son, Jesus, to save us from sin. Remind kids that we can confess our sin to God and ask Jesus to take away our sin.
