Ask the Questions

Bigs Discussion Questions

  1. What was your favorite part of today’s Bible story?

  2. What did you learn about God in today’s Bible story?

  3. Why did Jesus say the religious leaders were like snakes?

  4. How is Jesus the perfect Prophet? God speaks to us through Jesus.

Elementary Discussion Questions

  1. What were some things the religious leaders did that were sinful?

Remind kids that the religious leaders exalted themselves, made up rules, did things to make themselves look good, were not just or merciful, were greedy, etc. Help kids see that without Jesus, we can act like the Pharisees. Tell kids that Jesus’ warnings about the religious leaders are kind because they help us see our sin and how to turn away from it.

  2. How do we receive new hearts that can love God and others?

Discuss how it is only by faith in Jesus that God changes our hearts so we can love Him andothers rightly. Explain that Jesus died on the cross to take away our sin and that when we believe in Him our sinful hearts are made new.

  3. What are some ways we show we love God and others?

Answers will vary. Lead kids to discuss how we show love to God by living to honor and glorify Him in all we say and do. Tell kids that we put God first in our lives and show others that He is most important. Explain that when we love others, we are also loving God too. Tell kids that we can show love to others in many different ways by putting others before ourselves and being willing to serve them.
